Special Program in Journalism (SPJ)

In order to give students a concentrated curriculum and practical experience in the journalism industry, Echague National High School offers a Junior High School Special Program in Journalism. Students will learn the fundamentals, abilities, and procedures of journalism in this course, which also covers news reporting, writing, editing, and media production.

The program normally includes both theoretical and practical knowledge. Students study the ethical and legal sides of journalism, as well as media literacy, research skills, interviewing strategies, and narrative approaches. They may also research the history and evolution of journalism, as well as investigate other types of media such as print, broadcast, and digital journalism.

Students in the Junior High School Special Program in Journalism frequently have opportunity to engage in practical activities in addition to classroom learning. Writing articles for school newspapers, producing multimedia projects, conducting interviews, and engaging in news reporting exercises are some examples. Some institutions may work with local newspapers, radio stations, or television stations to give students with hands-on journalistic experience.
